Welcome to Here and Now Counseling Services.
Whether you are dealing with a crisis, seeking help for an addiction, or simply would like some guidance and support in our busy and stressful world, I provide a safe and honest space for you to work towards your personal goals.
I recognize that seeking help is not always easy, but often necessary, and always courageous. As a social worker first and foremost, I recognize the many real, complex, and often overlooked systems of oppression that exist in our lives, and can overwhelm our ability to cope with life's challenges. I seek to educate and continuously be educated on these issues, and to fight with you and for you to challenge and change these systems.
I believe every person has unique strengths, and I use a variety of holistic and evidence-based therapy approaches tailored to your individual needs, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
My experience has taught me that focus on the present moment and the quality of our thoughts are the most powerful tools we have to change our lives for the better. Please visit the About Me and Services sections to learn more about how I can assist you in reaching your goals, or call now and ask (630)-992-0587.
*Please note all sessions are currently being held online via tele-health video chat due to COVID19. Your safety and that of the community is my highest priority, and I look forward to connecting with you as we navigate these challenging times together.

Individual therapy sessions provide a safe and compassionate space to address a wide-range of topics. A typical session is 60 minutes long, and may be comprised of a combination of talk-therapy, skill-building and education. Please see below for fees. I also offer sessions on a sliding scale. Call to find out more!
Assessment and Referral
A biopsychosocial assessment is a comprehensive interview that covers a wide range of topics, including substance use and family history, to get a better idea of who you are, and what your needs may be. Assessments typically take between 1-2 hours, and will be completed during your first appointment. Recommendations might include weekly sessions, or referral for more intensive services, depending on the issues and concerns brought up during the assessment process.
Family and Couples Counseling
The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives, and our problems cannot be understood outside the context of our relationships with the ones closest to us. The path towards healing often includes involvement of part or all of the family in the process of therapy. Sessions are 60 minutes and may cover a wide range of topics and concerns
Addiction Recovery Counseling
I understand addiction not as a genetic disease or failure of will power, but as an adaptive response to pain and trauma. I ask not why the addiction, but why the pain, and provide a compassionate space to explore and heal the many variables that contribute to this way of coping.
If you think you or a loved one might be struggling with drug and/or alcohol abuse, NOW is the time to call and break the cycle. You are not alone.
Harm reduction based approach
Assessment and referral for treatment
"Trauma Informed Care is an organizational structure and treatment framework that involves understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma. Trauma Informed Care also emphasizes physical, psychological and emotional safety for both consumers and providers, and helps survivors rebuild a sense of control and empowerment"
I do not currently accept insurance. I offer a lower rate and sliding scale payments for those without insurance, and for those who prefer to keep their private health information between you and your mental health care provider. In addition, private payment allows us to avoid the frustration of insurance companies that may dictate your course of treatment despite best practices.
Have questions? Call or e-mail me to find out more. I will work with you to make prioritizing your wellness affordable!

Many clients are reimbursed directly from their insurance company (some clients report reimbursement rates between 50%-90%). You will be provided with a monthly Superbill (Statement for Insurance Reimbursement) that contains your service and diagnostic code, as well as all the information the insurance company will need to reimburse you for the maximum amount of each session. If you have any reimbursement questions, I recommend that you contact your insurance company first, as they can best answer your concerns regarding coverage.
